Reimagining the Critical Care Patient Environment

Josh Stewart represented TMP at the “Reimaging Critical Care” design workshop in Boston in the fall of 2019. This conference brought together clinicians, facility leaders and designers from across the country to discuss current challenges and methods associated with the critical care patient environment. In this video, Josh walks through the mock-up exercise his team presented detailing a new approach to the patient room environment in an effort to improve the patient & clinician experience.

These concept sketches illustrate the “on-stage, off-stage” concept where equipment can be kept and accessed outside of the patient room. The equipment feeds into an “umbilical cord” that connects to a simplified ceiling boom to serve the patient in a more calming environment.
