BNA Baggage Handling System

As more people travel to Music City, the Nashville International Airport systems are being renovated and upgraded to accommodate growing airport foot traffic. With more passengers comes increasing luggage, so in 2009, the Metro Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) sought to upgrade the Baggage Handling System to increase capacity. TMP provided design direction for the complete replacement of the inbound baggage system including new, expanded conveyors and updated finishes, completed in a tight, 280-day construction schedule. Construction phasing and signage were critical to maintaining passenger flow, as the baggage claim level had to remain functional during the renovation.

The new system provides increased processing speed and allows for sortation by baggage source message. Additionally, the project included the expansion of the baggage make-up rooms and relocation of the TSA On Screen Resolution area and Control Room.
