Centennial Sportsplex

TMP designed the Centennial Sportsplex to offer year-round sports activities and recreational programs to the Nashville community. Three world records were set in less than an hour during the facility’s major inaugural meet. These breakthroughs, along with additional national meet records, make this one of the fastest pools in the world.

The project includes an 112,000-square-foot complex, occupying three buildings within a 17-acre site on a 232-acre urban park. The complex includes an aquatic center, ice arena, seventeen-court tennis center, aerobics area, administrative space, concessions, and retail stores.

The complex was designed to ensure flexibility for future expansion. Following its completion, the project was featured on the cover of ARCHITECTURE magazine and praised for its creative use of elements, flexibility and suitability for sports as well as competitive and community athletic events. Additionally the design received an Award of Excellence from the American Institute of Architects Tennessee Chapter and an Excellence in Masonry Award from the Masonry Institute of Tennessee.
