The project at Poinciana Medical Center included expansions to the Lab and Emergency Departments as well as interior renovations.
The Emergency Department expansion utilized available parking space to expand to the north, and lost parking spaces were recovered in underutilized space behind the facility. The new exam rooms expanded upon existing services, including general exams, isolation exams, and trauma rooms. The design also includes two convertible exam rooms which, when converted, provide an additional layer of security for patients with mental health issues. The isolation exam room was placed away from the other exam rooms and closer to an exterior door to reduce the potential for contamination to adjacent patients. In addition to the expansion, the entrance to the Emergency Department was renovated for a fresh and more functional space. Overall the Emergency Department gained additional exam rooms that now total 31 rooms.
The Lab expanded into an available space on the west side of the building. The additional space was designated for a Pathology lab, office space, and storage.
