New Office Spotlight
The Way We Work: Community-Centric Cafe
TMP is driven by our culture and value of people first, both with our clients and our own staff. When designing our new office at McEwen Northside, we wanted a central location where we could spend time together, cultivate relationships, have fun, and foster community. Everyone agreed that our café was the perfect place. After all, if the kitchen is the heart of a home, why not the same for an office?
When you walk in the main entrance, the café is located just on the other side of a large quartz wall, which separates it from the reception desk. This was intentional, making it the first stop when people arrive for the day to grab a cup of coffee or breakfast. It's typically the last stop, too, whether for an afternoon happy hour or to snag a snack for the way home. It has ample natural light and provides an amazing view of the development below.
We incorporated a variety of seating options to give people choice and comfort. There’s a large bar with stools, illuminated by a custom light fixture that’s perfect for catered lunch-and-learns. Smaller high-top tables are in the middle of the space, while banquettes line the windows. A more private nook in the corner offers a spot for people to eat or work within the space without being front and center. And the showpiece is a custom community table by Cremona Custom Built that can fit 12 people comfortably. That’s where you’ll find lots of TMPers at lunch.
The café is also home to TMP’s complimentary snack bar and coffee bar, plus ample space for storing your lunch, drinks, and more.
But more than just for mealtimes, the café is a space where our staff loves to gather. We’ve hosted happy hours, fantasy football drafts, catered meals, and even impromptu meetings. It also ties into our principle of activity-based working. Employees are free to set up in the café for a change of scenery to check some emails or finish a project.
Having a community-centric café in our office space is another way of tangibly living out our values and strengthening relationships with each other.
