Dickson Fire Station 3

The Challenge
The City of Dickson and Dickson Fire Department needed a new fire station to increase efficiency in the east Dickson community. Located in between a busy highway and residential neighborhood, this project needed to blend into the surrounding area and address the 40-foot elevation change on site.

Location
Dickson, Tennessee
-
Size
10,656 square feet

Distinguishing Features
- Two-bay, five-bunk fire station
- 12-person training room
The Design Solution
TMP designed the two-bay facility to accommodate five personnel with private bunk rooms, and it features a training room, kitchen, day room, physical agility room, and associated support spaces.
On the residential side, a racetrack corridor in the bunk areas helps to reduce emergency response time, allowing firefighters to get where they need to be quickly. Similarly, bi-fold doors in the apparatus bays help intentionally minimize response time.
The station’s exterior reflects the adjacent residential neighborhood and the nearby Greystone Golf Club and First Baptist Church. It features a metal sloped roof, stone and brick face, and inviting front porch.
