HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital – Rehabilitation Patient Tower

The Challenge
The rapidly growing community of Hudson, Florida needed additional health resources. TMP worked with HCA Florida Healthcare and Bayonet Point Hospital to design a new patient tower and expanded services including an inpatient rehabilitation unit, intensive and progressive care units, and a medical/surgical unit with additional space for growth.

The Design Solution
TMP designed a brand-new main entrance for the hospital opening to a four-story lobby. Wrapped in aluminum curtain wall, the lobby was nicknamed the “jewel box” thanks to its reflective qualities that sparkled in the Florida sunshine.
It features natural light, modern elements, and a hotel-like visual prominence that warmly welcomes visitors. It also creates a strong relationship with the outdoors while connecting the existing hospital and new tower. A new, outdoor courtyard was strategically placed between the tower and existing hospital to help facilitate movement for rehabilitation patients, and patients, visitors. Staff can enjoy the space as well.

The Design Impact
The client’s goal for the patient tower was to create a welcoming, hospitality-inspired space that promotes healing. Soft colors, ample natural light, large-scale art, and strategic design decisions — like the courtyard — achieved this goal.
