Metro Nashville Emergency Communication Center Renovation

The Challenge
Originally constructed in 1981, the Metro Nashville Emergency Communications Center (ECC) serves as the primary ECC for the Metro Nashville region. The building needed modern updates including accessibility, aesthetic and functionality features.

Client
Metropolitan Government of Nashville; Davidson County
-
Location
Nashville, Tennessee
-
Size
22,000 square feet of the existing 39,000-square-foot building
The Design Solution
The client also wanted to provide a fresh, inspiring interior environment for the first responders. The building has no exterior windows, which can be tough for employees, so the design team used lighting to mimic daylight and acoustic panels printed with uplifting images of downtown Nashville.

The Design Impact
Because of the building’s critical nature, it had to remain open and operational 24/7 throughout design and construction. The completed renovation offered a fresh, modern update for one of the city’s most important facilities.
