NASA wanted to consolidate various departments into a single area on the Marshall Space Flight Center campus in Huntsville, Alabama.

  • Client

    NASA

  • Location

    Huntsville, Alabama

  • Size

    500,000-plus square feet

  • Awards

      • First LEED-certified building for all NASA campuses nationwide
      • First LEED Silver-certified building in the state of Alabama

The Design Solution

TMP developed a 40-acre master plan for NASA Building 4600.

The design provided an easily accessible development using environmentally friendly practices. The building was centrally oriented to preserve vistas and maximize daylight exposure. Retention ponds were incorporated for stormwater runoff with high-efficiency irrigation systems, and intentional pedestrian connections to nearby buildings were planned.

The Design Impact

Employees now have a more central, collaborative workspace on the Marshall Space Flight Center campus.
