Piedmont Cartersville Vertical Expansion
Piedmont Cartersville Vertical Expansion

TMP completed the design for a 14,970-square-foot vertical patient tower expansion of two floors as well as the renovation of the sterile processing department, with a total square footage of 31,798. The sterile processing department, located on the first floor, includes a new decontamination room, clean work, and lots of new storage with a loading dock. The fourth-floor vertical expansion is a shell space with room for future buildouts. The fifth floor brings 20 new beds to the hospital, and the new stair tower serves as a focal point for the hospital through its difference in color palette and material, as well as its height. Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center is now one of the tallest buildings in Cartersville. With the new addition, the total number of licensed beds is now 139.

The space was designed to be thoroughly functional and thoughtful, with an eye to the future. All rooms in the new tower have the ability to supplement with virtual nursing stations — not to take away from bedside care, but to expand it.

The team worked with the facility to stay within budget while still providing a fresh, modern palette that plays nicely with the existing hospital.
